The VBOX Vehicle Separation Testing system offers the facility to log data between two different vehicles, which makes it ideal for accurately testing safety systems such as Active Cruise Control.

NHTSA Testing

We provide dedicated solutions for NHTSA Tests such as the "Forward Collision Warning System NCAP Confirmation Test". This test requires the accuracy provided by a RTK VBOX system, YAW rate provided by the Inertial Measurement Unit and video evidence, captured during the test by the VideoVBOX.

Forward Collision Warning System NCAP Confirmation Test

There are three test scenarios for a NCAP Confirmation Test:

• Subject Vehicle (SV) Encounters a Stopped Principal Other Vehicle (POV) on a straight road
• Subject Vehicle (SV) Encounters a Decelerating Principal Other Vehicle (POV)
• Subject Vehicle (SV) Encounters a Slower Principal Other Vehicle (POV)

The Vehicles Forward Collision Warning (FCW) alert signal can be input into the VBOX in a number of ways in order to verify against GPS data during each test. It must occur when the Time to Collision is at least 2.1 seconds. Lateral distance between centreline of the SV and centreline of the POV must not exceed 0.6m (2 ft), with respect to road coordinates.

Software

VBOXTools Analysis Software is a flexible and powerful package which allows for detailed post processing of the logged files in order to test the accuracy of your ADAS system.

A laptop running VBOXTools can be used to monitor the measured parameters in real time, either by a serial, USB, or Bluetooth connection.

For VideoVBOX files, video can be viewed synchronised with the data within the software.

The Vehicle Separaton testing equipment comprises of two VBOX3i 100Hz with GLONASS and RTK, a GLONASS BaseStation, a VBOX Manager, the VBOXTools Analysis Software and a Carry Case.
